For over 28 years, Chef Don Garrett has shown a deep-rooted passion for food which developed from being raised in Iowa and spending time with his grandparents on their local farm. Chef Garrett learned to work with the land on his grandfather's farm and his grandmother guided him on being creative with that food from their own labors. It's there Chef Garrett found an appreciation for fresh produce from the garden. Chef Garrett has spent over 20 years with Marriott and Renaissance Hotels, most recently as the Executive Chef of the West Des Moines Marriott. Chef Garrett's most cherished experiences were those which had strong Midwest heritage, a community connection, and a focus on integration of ethical, responsible, and sustainable management of culinary trends. Chef Garrett loves working with the next generation of culinarian students and takes great pride in working with the culinary Work Skills Development Program through Ruby Can Meter Schools. Chef Don has been with the Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel since May 2017
Chef Brittney Campbell's life has revolved around food. Whether it was cooking with her grandmothers, making omelets with her mom or grilling with her dad, she has always been or seeking to be in the know of what is happening with food. The Food Channel was always on and it quickly became her dream to become a chef one day. After spending a decade in the service industry leading teams in the front of house, she came to realize she needed to make that childhood dream a reality in the back of the house. In 2017 Chef Brittney graduated from The Iowa Culinary Institute at DMACC. While there she discovered her love for the art of quality mass production cooking. Chef Brittney was awarded the ICI French Culinary Scholarship. During her month in France she spent time with 2 chefs, the first a Michelin starred Chef where she was really able to focus on her craft of delicate plating and presentation. The second, a traditional French chef with a restaurant that also doubled as a wedding venue again, reaffirming her love for banquet style cooking. Chef Brittney has been with The Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel since October 2017.
